I love telling stories. Photography is my way of telling them.
As an event photographer I aim not only to capture the speakers on stage or the audience in their seats but also the vibe, the feel & the energy of the event.
As a commercial photographer my aim is to provide clients with images which they can use to help convey their story to their audience in the most beautiful and effective way possible.
As a portrait photographer my aim is to provide you with images that you love. Where you can really see the personality of each subject in the shot.
Every time I work with a client I throughly research and communicate with them so I understand not just what they do or who they are but also why they do what they do what and why they are who they are. I then use photography to bring this to the forefront

I love working with people who are working to make a positive difference to the world they live in. I also understand that these people, organisations and groups need access to quality content and often don't have the money to invest into it when they are struggling to get by. I do what I can to help these amazing people do the best work they can and therefore if you want to work with me and are worried about the costs please get in touch. I'll do what I can based on how much I love what you're doing and your financial circumstances. If you're doing something I truly believe in we'll find a way to make it work.
“Thom Bartley is an outstanding photographer and a downright ace guy to work with. Down to earth, friendly and professional, he tirelessly captured four days of our arts festival and blended right in without much creative direction. We just trusted him to crack on, which he absolutely did. Plus, his turnaround and range of photographs were even better than we could have imagined and we’re so delighted. Work with him, now.”
- Cynthia Miller - Co-Founder and Director of Verve Poetry Festival
“Thom is an incredible photographer. As a marketeer with SKY HIGH standards, I trust Thom implicitly & explicitly to create incredible images that level up organisations. I've commissioned Thom for projects I've led at Google Campus, University of Birmingham School, Enrol Yourself & TEDxBrum. Thom is a photographer with like zero ego and maximum flexibility, so he makes working with him super easy when I'm juggling a million things. I can put him in front of any of the groups I work with - from Brummie teenagers to tech startup entrepreneurs - even folx who HATE having their photograph taken, and he will make them feel comfortable and even enjoy the shoot.”
- Anneka Deva - Advocacy Academy
"As always a pleasure to work with Thom, who energetically captured the festival and took the time to fully immerse himself in the work and understand the audience. We were left with beautiful photos that will support us well as we look to promote the festival over the next few years."
- Daniel Alcorn - Co-Founder and Director of Birmingham Design Festival
“Easily the best photographer I’ve worked with, sometimes I need him to do quick events at short notice with fast turn around, other times long term stuff. Always makes my life a lot easier & that matters. Also cares about making you feel comfortable.”
- Immy Kaur - Founder of Impact Hub Birmingham
“Thom is a warm, engaging photographer and videographer, sensitive to the contexts he works in. The work he has done with us on numerous projects is much loved and frequently used.”
- Lorna Prescott - Founder of CoLab Dudley
“Thank you for showing us these wonderful photographs! To be honest, they are as beautiful as the pictures on the Bing homepage.
